How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
The broad purpose of this position is to provide high quality professional strategic planning expertise to give effect to Council’s goals for the municipality’s development. In doing this the Senior Strategic Planner will:
- Support the Planning Policy Manager in providing leadership, knowledge and expertise
- Develop and implement evidence based strategic planning and policy in collaboration with others in the branch and organisation to achieve the outcomes sought by Council.
- Manage projects, portfolios of projects and project teams to ensure that the expected time, cost and quality outcomes are met or exceeded.
- Develop the Melbourne ACG次元网 Scheme to achieve Council’s urban development strategies and objectives.
- Participate in programs for continuous improvement of the way the branch works to improve the quality and productivity of the branch.
What you will bring…
- Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in the area of strategic urban planning or a closely related field such as urban design.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in the development of planning schemes with preference for the Victorian system.
- High level of interpersonal skills in negotiation, persuasion, exercising discretion and judgement in a complex, administrative and political working environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-corporate and multi-organisational projects with proven skills and experience in policy and strategy development.
- Proven capability to contribute to skill development of team members by providing coaching, mentoring and support.
- Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities with experience in developing creative and innovative solutions to complex problems and the ability to conceptualise future opportunities, scenarios and critically assess policy alternatives.
- Outstanding project management skills in leading and participating in cross-corporate and multi-organisational projects including project planning, resource management and ensuring delivery of outcomes within budget and to agreed timeframes.
- Comprehensive understanding of urban ACG次元网 principles and processes and an understanding of the range of issues impinging upon capital city planning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated experience in communicating in a variety of fora and media.
